STAR-SORB
STAR-SORB is a solid, granular superabsorbent polymer that swells and absorbs many times its weight in aqueous solutions. STAR-SORB is intended to solidify wet soil, general wastewaters and simple sludge for disposal to landfill or certified special waste site.
Application
STAR-SORB should be added directly to the waste stream in small amounts as it absorbs the liquid portion of the waste. The amount of STAR-SORB added will depend on the amount of liquid in the waste to be solidified. Cuttings waste would require a lot less material than lower density liquid waste streams like spent drilling fluid.
Advantages
- STAR-SORB is a high efficiency absorbent that expands in volume by less than 1 %
- Much more effective than fly ash, sawdust or recycled diaper absorbents
- When used properly, waste sludges will pass paint filter test (EPA 9095)
- Solidified wastes can be incinerated
- Will not release entrapped liquids after freezing and subsequent thawing
Typical Usages
